Q:I participated in wrestling and running to qualify for my
Bronze. May I continue these activities for my Silver?
A:Yes,
but you must participate in at least one new activity for your Silver.
The new activity could be taken in addition to wrestling and running, or
replace one or both of these activities.
Q:My friend and I rock climb regularly, can she be my
assessor?
A:Yes, provided that she is an adult who is
experienced and knowledgeable in your activity.
Q:Can I count my two hour game of hockey as Physical
Recreation?
A:Yes, but you may only count the time that you
were actually playing (sitting on the bench does not count). For most
team sports this comes to about ‡ hour per game.
Q:I was in an accident and have limited use of my legs. Can I
do bowling as my Physical Recreation?
A:Yes. You may also wish
to discuss other potential activities with your doctor or therapist.
Q:I coach volleyball for my Service, can I play it for my
Physical Recreation activity as well?
A:Yes, as long as the
playing occurs at different times from the coaching. It is preferable
that you select a completely different activity for each section of the
Award.
Q:Iím playing in a basketball tournament this weekend, can I
count all 6 hours that I expect to be playing?
A:No, only a
maximum of two hours may count for any week, however, you should keep
track of all the time that is spent on your activity to demonstrate your
commitment to it.
Q:I lift weights, can I count this for my Physical
Recreation?
A:Yes. A weight lifting program should be
complemented by an aerobic activity.
