Dukes in the City
< Back to What's New Page
"Dukes in the City" is about youth getting together and having fun! It's a nine week program being run through Toronto City Parks and Recreation every Tuesday evening from 7-10 pm. It is a co-operative effort giving youth a forum for recreation, skill development and an introduction to The Duke of Edinburgh's Award Programme.
Each week there will be a different focus for the activity. The activities include: Rock climbing, Orienteering (map and compass), Arts night, Indoor sports, Music night, Wilderness trip planning, Basic first aid and more.
Members of the community are invited to share their skills with participants and enjoy the planned activities. By the end of the nine weeks, each participant will have experienced an introduction to a variety of skills and activities that might continue beyond the duration of this program. Also, the evenings will provide the preliminary training for the Adventurous Journey component of The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Programme.
