Duke Delegate Mengjue - Prince Edward Island

Q:What level of the Award are you currently working on?
A: I am currently working on my silver award.

Q: What activities do you do for each section of your Award?
Skills: I attend private piano lessons every week.
Community service: I participate in the Mom's class services every week and assist my teacher to teach English to international moms.
I also participate in student council activities as the representative from grade 10.
Physical recreation: I am in the school's badminton team and meet every Wednesday for two hours after school.

Q: What was your worst Duke of Ed moment that you now look back on and laugh?
A: When I was on my exploration trip back in Beijing, I stayed in the hotel. Because of the jet legging I woke up early one day morning. I played the flute
in my school band, and that morning I started playing the flute at about 10am. Apparently one of my neighbours in another room "reported" to the hotel
and I was called by phone to stop playing. I felt intimidated because probably a lot of people were waken up by my music.

Q: What do you hope to accomplish in your term as a Duke Delegate?
A: To inspire more students to participate in Duke of E, encourage them to explore the beauty of nature. I would also like to promote more students to give
back to their community and improve upon their skills. I also hope that more international students would join our Duke of Ed community. And at last I
want to tell everyone how fun the Duke of Ed is.

Q: What do you think of the qualities of a great Leader what comes to mind?
A: A great leader must have passion in what he/she does. With leadership also come with the responsibilities to serve others. To be a leader also means that one
has to be dedicated to their job and is patient and confident. To me, leadership means serving others wholeheartedly and being able to positively inspire my community.

Q: What excites you about being a Duke Delegate?
A: The part that I am most passionate about in being a Duke Delegate is the opportunity to socialize with others. The community is the best place for me to learn more and communicate. Being the Duke Delegate, I will be able to meet more people and learn about their perspectives.

Q: Can you give us one interesting fact about yourself?
A: I love piano playing and I have been playing the piano for almost 10 years.
