The Lieutenant Governor’s Volunteer Recognition Award has been established to recognize those individuals who volunteer their time with The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award - Canada program in Alberta.  The Lieutenant Governor’s Volunteer Recognition Award is the highest Award that can be granted to a volunteer.

This Award is open to any adult involved in The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award - Canada program in the capacity of a volunteer, leader, or mentor. 

Nominees must meet Award criteria including the following:

  • Have been a part of the program for a consistent 24 month period.
  • Have set themselves apart from other volunteers by rendering outstanding services to The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award - Canada within Alberta.

Nominations will be accepted from The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award - Canada program participants, parents, and supporters.  Nominations should
include the following:

  • A full supporting narrative that explains the unusual contribution that the volunteer has made to be deserving of this Award.
  • A reference letter in support of the Nominee.
  • A requested citation no more than 50 words in length.

The Lieutenant Governor’s Volunteer Recognition Award will be awarded annually during The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award - Canada Silver Ceremony.
