Did you know you can receive high school credit for your Award?

The Department of Education has created a form to allow students to challenge for credit the Silver or Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award for Outdoor Pursuits 110. The student will fill out the Challenge for Credit form and give to their guidance counsellor along with the congratulatory letter from our office stating they have achieved their Award and their record book, expedition guide, and Award submission form (everything they sent in to be marked by the office).

FREDERICTON, N.B - The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award in New Brunswick is proud to announce its partnership with J.D. Irving, Limited, supporting youth outreach across the province.

As a major partner, J.D. Irving, Limited, (JDI) has made a major contribution to assist us in reaching our goal of doubling our participant base in N.B. by the year 2020 including outreach to special needs youth, First Nations youth, immigrant youth, Francophone youth, and youth from rural communities.

It is our goal to ensure every youth in our province is aware of this internationally renowned program and has the opportunity to participate in it. Due to the positive habits and life skills developed during their time in the Award, these youth will become leaders and contributing members of our province, thereby creating a stronger New Brunswick for us all.

Getting Started

To get started on the Online Record Book (ORB), you will receive an email from Duke of Ed NB with your login information once you have registered for the Award program. 


You can use the ORB website or app.

Handbooks  

Please read through the Participant Handbook EnglishParticipant Handbook French prior to beginning your Award journey as it contains all the information you will need to achieve your Award successfully. 

Please read through the ORB Participant Guide English / ORB Participant Guide French prior to starting your online record book to understand how to use ORB. Start on page 9. 

 

Reports 

Once you have completed your Adventurous Journey section, please complete and upload the Adventurous Journey Report to your online record book. 

Once you have completed your Residential Project section, please complete and upload the Residential Project Report to your online record book. You can only complete the Residential Project if you are on the Gold level or if you are at least 16 years old. If you are at least 16 years old but not currently on the Gold level, please email newbrunswick@dukeofed.org to find out how you can document your Residential Project once you move on to the Gold level.

These expeditions meet the requirements for their specified Award level. These are listed as options for participants. It is up to participants and their parents/guardians to vet the outfitter for themselves.

REGISTRATION FEE ADJUSTMENT TO $50 ON JULY 1ST

The Duke of Ed is adjusting our registration fee to help us continue expanding our reach and help us ensure that every young Canadian can access and participate in our program right across the country. Today we have 25% more participants than we had just five years ago. We remain committed to continue enhancing our program by updating and creating relevant materials that will ensure your success and support you more effectively on your personal journey to become your best self and a dedicated, contributing citizen of your community and our great country.

This is our first price increase since 2013. Since then, the Award has created a new website, developed the On-Line Record Book and launched a mobile app. We have also hosted two national week-long participant events, both of which exceeded attendance expectations. Please visit dukeofed.org/update where you will find more information on this price increase, including an FAQ and a brochure highlighting six amazing things the Duke of Ed offers.
If you act this spring, you can lock in our old pricing before the adjustment is made.

Complete and submit your current Award level before June 15 so you can sign up for your next Award level before the July 1st price change.
