Who We Are

Connie Miller, B.A.
Executive Director
Connie has been working in the non-profit
sector for 30+ years, primarily in senior management positions, and always in
the child and youth development field.
Over her career she has been the lead researcher on National projects
resulting in published papers, organized national conferences, has been a
keynote presenter, curriculum developer, and has delivered countless workshops
and seminars. She joined the Award in
Nova Scotia in July of 2006 as the Executive Director, and has thoroughly
enjoyed being a part of the development, growth and expansion of the program. Connie is married, the mother of two
children and the grandmother of three.
She is also an Administrative Justice of the Peace for the Province of
NS. In her spare time, she likes to
read, garden, and spend as much time with her grandchildren as she possibly
can.
Heather Uhl, B.Phil
Award Officer
Heather joined the Duke of
Edinburgh’s International Award - Nova Scotia in 2016 and achieved her Gold Award in June 2017. She brings a wealth of knowledge through her
volunteer work with Scouts Canada and is a dedicated Scouter with her local
Scout Troop. In her spare time Heather enjoys gemcutting, sailing and studying geology and gemology.
Matt Godfrey, B.F.A.
Program Assistant
Matt started with the Duke of Edinburgh's International Award - Nova Scotia as a summer student in 2010 and continued with us on a part-time basis until 2013. Matt then took a full-time position as Program Assistant, reviewing Awards and helping participants register and navigate the Award program. When he has spare time, Matt enjoys crafting with leather and dabbling with creative writing.
