Dogsledding trips - CHOCPAW Expeditions South River, Ontario

​These trips will provide Bronze, Silver and Gold participants with a winter adventurous qualifying journey. This has become a very popular trip with DEA participants from all parts of Ontario. Experience a trip by dogsled into Algonquin Park’s winter wonderland as seen by members of the Group of Seven. Cost

  • Cost payable to CHOCPAW for Bronze journey (Preliminary Training, Practice Journey & Qualifying Journey) is $514.15 per person (HST included).
  • Cost payable to CHOCPAW for Silver journey (Preliminary Training, Practice Journey & Qualifying Journey) is $743.53 per person (HST included).

  • Cost payable to CHOCPAW for Gold journey (Preliminary Training, Practice Journey & Qualifying Journey) is $879.03 per person (HST included)
  • We can arrange Bronze Preliminary Training/Practice Journey and Qualifying Journey for a minimum of 4 people. We can also do custom Gold or Silver trips with a minimum of 4 people.

  

 NOTE: These rates include park fees, all food during the trip and a hot lunch served upon return from the trip. Chocpaw provides all sledding, camping and cooking equipment. Please visit www.chocpaw.com for trip descriptions. The night between Preliminary Training & Practice and the Qualifying Journey is spent in the bush. Therefore, a Silver trip is a 5-day experience and a Gold trip is a 6-day experience. Participants need to bring proper attire, winter boots and a winter sleeping bag. Chocpaw Expeditions reserves the right to cancel, delay or reschedule any program due to lack of snow or unsafe travelling conditions, or in  the event an expedition does not have a sufficient number of participants. If we cancel for any reason a full refund will be issued.

 

Canoe Trips - CHOCPAW Expeditions, South River, Ontario

Chocpaw Expeditions provides canoe trips designed to meet the requirements of The Duke of Edinburgh's Award programme. The dates below are for Qualifying Expeditions. If you require training and practice before your Qualifying Journey, Chocpaw can make arrangements.


If you have a group of 6 or more participants, you can select your own dates and Chocpaw will attempt to accommodate your group.

CANOE TRIPS, 2016:

Information About our Shuttle Services:

New this year Chocpaw Expeditions is providing bus shuttles for participants from the GTA/ Toronto area. If you would like to opt out of transportation, please just let Chocpaw know upon booking.

Shuttle from Yorkdale mall to Chocpaw Expeditions Office:

5 am on the first day of the canoe expedition.  A school bus will meet the Bronze, Silver and Gold participants in the West Parking lot beside the Husdon Bay store of Yorkdale mall. (Dufferin is the side street). This is roughly a 3.5 hr ​journey. $65 + HST

Shuttle from Chocpaw Office to Algonquin Park:

Participants arrive at the Chocpaw office around 8:30-9 am. They will spend an hour meeting their groups, guide and re-packing all the group gear for the expedition. Then hop on bus shuttle, and be taken to their starting location on Algonquin Park. This is roughly a 25 min shuttle. $20 + HST

Ontario Northland Bus from Algonquin Park back to Toronto/Yorkdale Mall:

On the final day of expedition, participants will eat lunch with the group and be ready to leave by 12 pm. If we have a large number of participants we will hire a private shuttle from Algonquin Park back to Yorkdale Mall. The approximate time of arrival back at Yorkdale Mall is 4 PM.

If we have a small amount of participants heading back to Toronto, Chocpaw will purchase bus tickets via Ontario Northland and send then back to Yorkdale mall. Chocpaw will shuttle participants to the bus stop. Approx arrival time at Yorkdale mall is 9:45 pm (because the bus does not leave South River until 4:40 pm).

Shuttle or Ontario Northland Bus back to Yorkdale Mall are the same price ($65 + HST).

Hiking trips - CHOCPAW Expeditions, South River, Ontario

 
Chocpaw Expeditions provides hiking trips designed to meet the requirements of The Duke of Edinburgh's Award programme.

Chocpaw Expeditions has selected a variety of hiking trails in Algonquin Provincial Park, Killarney Provincial Park and the Temagami area. Each trail offers spectacular scenery and wildlife viewing opportunities. We camp at night beside a lake or river. The pace is relaxed and enjoyable. We take the opportunity to swim in the lakes and rivers, relax, and enjoy the trail. Hike duration will meet The Duke of Edinburgh's Award requirements. All trails are loops.

Chocpaw Expeditions provides the camping equipment. Packs and sleeping pads are available for rent. Participants need to supply their own good footwear, clothing and a sleeping bag.

If you require Training and Practice before your Qualifying Journey, Chocpaw can make arrangements.

If you have a group of 6 or more participants you can select your own dates and we will attempt to accommodate your group.

HIKING TRIPS 2016

Bronze Preliminary Training, Practice Journey & Qualifying Journey:  May 21 - 23.  At least 6 people are needed to run the trip.

Silver Qualifying Journey Only:  May 21 - 23.  At least 6 people are needed to run the trip.

We can start new trips for 6 or more people.  Please call the Chocpaw office at 705-386-0344 for further details.

RATES (subject to change):

Bronze Preliminary Training, Practice Journey & Qualifying Journey (3 days):  $332.25 + HST

Silver Qualifying Journey only (3 days):  $332.25 + HST

Accommodation prior to the trip, between the Training or Practice trip and Qualifying trip, and after the trip are extra and depend on the accommodation used.

**An extra $20 will be charged to all Silver and Gold participants for a bus fee. The bus will take the participants from our office to the entrance of Algonquin Park (25 min drive). This allows parents to drop off their child without having to wait around an additional 1-2 hours.

Chocpaw does not provide pre-trip accommodation. However, we can provide you with information about local accommodation.
