Participant Gold

Participant Gold I am so thankful to the Duke of Edinburgh for opening the Award to international participants. Having missed out on being a Brownie as a child, the ‘Duke of Ed’ allowed me to challenge myself with new activities that I otherwise may not have tried. I tried canoeing for my Expedition and found that I really enjoyed it, in spite of my fear of water. The Award helped me to live a more well-rounded life and to grow in confidence. In fact, it continues to shape my life as I try new skills and physical activities during this Covid season.

It was a dream come true when I had the opportunity to speak with the late Duke of Edinburgh at St James’s Palace as a Gold Award Holder volunteer in 2017.

I hope current and future participants will have as much fun as I had in completing the Duke of Ed. Read More Stories
