Award Holder Bronze

Award Holder Bronze At 13, I found this wonderful opportunity to gain valuable experience and to grow as a person. After achieving the award, I am more than confident to say that it not only helped me improve on some important skills but also taught me patience and perseverance. During the COVID-19 pandemic, everyone's lives were turned upside down, and the new reality we lived in was strange. Personally, the majority of my grade 8 school year was virtual, leaving students like myself with an abundance of time and boredom. With all the negativity that surrounded this new lifestyle, the award helped me focus my energy towards something positive. Over the span of the last couple of months, I worked towards achieving the award, and let me just say, it was not that easy! It required consistency, which is something I found difficult. It is something you must commit your time and dedication to, however, it is definitely worth it. The opportunities the award possesses are considerably meaningful and will help you create unforgettable memories. Each part of the award (skills, community service, physical activity, and the adventurous journey) is remarkably well crafted. You develop and enhance in all of these areas in different ways. For example, I would've never learned as much about filmography and editing if I didn't have the platform to do so. The great thing about this is that everyone's experience of the award is so unique and different as your focus is through self-discovery and your own personal interest and passions. I deeply appreciate and am grateful for what this program has given me. I strongly encourage all youth to participate in the Duke of Edinburgh Award as I am certain that you will feel the same way as I do! Read More Stories
