At The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award – Canada, we believe every young person deserves the opportunity to discover who they are and what they are capable of. The Award provides a proven framework for personal development through volunteering, skill-building, physical activity, and adventurous journeys. But one of the most powerful elements of the Award is mentorship. 

The Power of Adult Mentorship 

Behind every young person striving to grow is a mentor who believes in them. 

Award Leaders and adult mentors play a vital role in guiding participants through their journey. They offer encouragement, accountability, and a listening ear. They help youth set goals, reflect on progress, and stay motivated, especially when challenges arise. 

Mentorship is more than support – it is a relationship that fosters confidence, resilience, and purpose. For many young people, it is the first time someone has truly invested in their growth.

Expanding Our Reach 

Thanks to your support, the Award is growing faster than ever. In 2025, we launched partnerships in Ontario, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, and Newfoundland and Labrador, creating new opportunities for thousands of youth. And we are just getting started, with more collaborations on the horizon, we’re. We’re on track to reach 50,000 young people nationwide, including those in underserved communities.
