Today is a milestone moment for the Award in Canada. Not only are we kicking off Award Awareness Week, but we’re also proud to unveil our brand-new Gold Award Achievers Recognition page. A digital space dedicated to celebrating the young people who’ve reached the highest level of the Award.
Launching today, the page proudly features the 2024/2025 Gold Award achievers. Young people who’ve completed the Gold level with distinction, resilience, and purpose, continuing the legacy of excellence set by those who came before them. It’s more than just a list of names, it’s a tribute to their journeys and the impact they’ve made in their communities. And this is just the beginning: the page will be updated annually to honour each new cohort of Gold Award holders.
As we begin this week of celebration, reflection, and connection, we invite you to explore the Gold Award Achievers page, share it with your networks, and help us spotlight the incredible accomplishments of these youth people. Click here to visit the page.
What’s Happening This Week?
Each day of Award Awareness Week has a theme and a live virtual session at 12 PM ET, open to everyone. Today is Make It Known Monday, and we’re kicked things off with a powerful session featuring Paralympic legend and former Cabinet Minister Michelle Stilwell, hosted by her coach and Award alum Peter Lawless.
We’re also encouraging everyone to get involved in simple but meaningful ways:
- Use Award posters to decorate your space.
- Share a moment, a memory, or a photo that captures what the Award means to you—and be sure to tag @dukeofedcanada so we can celebrate your story with the community.
- Join today’s Goal Setting & Growth session at 12 PM ET.
- Vote in the Teamwork category of the Award in Action photo contest on Instagram and Facebook (Oct 20–22).
- Sign up for the rest of the week’s events—there’s something inspiring every day!
Let’s flood our feeds, classrooms, and communities with the spirit of the Award.
Honourary Recognition Across Canada
We’re proud to share that Lieutenant Governors and government bodies across Canada have officially recognized this year’s Award Awareness Week. Their proclamations and messages of support highlight the Award’s impact and importance in our communities.
This year, we’ve received honourary recognition from Ontario, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia—you can read their proclamations on our Award Awareness Week page. And across the country, flag raisings are taking place in Alberta, Saskatchewan, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland & Labrador, and British Columbia.
These gestures of support remind us that the Award is not just a youth development framework, it’s a national movement.
A Message from Our Board Chair, Amy Langhorne
