Virtual Award Centres (VACs)

Exciting News! New Virtual Award Centre (VAC) Guided-Support Model

We developed a Virtual Award Centre support model to ensure that young people in Canada from all backgrounds and life circumstances have the opportunity to participate in the AwardIf there is no existing Award Centre in your community, the VAC could be a great option for you to do the Award.

Exciting developments!

  • New for 2024 – Updated delivery model: Learning from 18 months of operation and feedback, we have fully revised our support model to use a comprehensive guided support approach that maximises your opportunity to complete the Award in a timely manner while maintaining the intrinsic flexibility and participant-led choices to ensure your VAC experience is both enjoyable and rewarding.

  • Guided-Support: The VAC guided-support model utilises a proven framework that integrates tools, support, and examples to enable you to maximise the benefit of doing the Award and celebrating your successes. Dedicated and friendly staff VAC Leaders who will guide you through the Award, be there to answer your questions and help you consider options and opportunities.

  • Newly designed participant playbook and VAC Navigator (web-based portal) gives you digital access to everything you need to help you on your journey.

  • Integrated Virtual Bronze Experience (VBE) that removes the barrier to completing the Adventurous Journey. The Bronze Level VAC includes the VBE as standard. Learning from our experience of running the VAC, this is seen as a significant benefit that we can offer to everyone who joins the VAC.

Launch Date

To prepare for the new model launch, new registrations in the existing VAC will close on March 15th in preparation for the new cohorts.

Youth will be able to register for the new VAC Guided-support model and will be assigned a cohort on a first-come, first-served basis. A new website will be launched to provide updated information, guides, and FAQ regarding the new model.

Our first VAC Bronze Guided Support model – cohort 1 – will start in the first week of June.
