Example SMART Goal: Hockey season is here! I’m committed to attending team practices three times a week for 13 weeks, working specifically on my skating speed and puck control. I’ll track my progress through drills and scrimmages.

Example Assessor: School hockey coach or assistant coach

Example Log: Focused on crossovers during practice today. They’re getting smoother! Coach said my acceleration out of turns is improving. Working on backward skating next practice.

Example SMART Goal: To become a smarter player, I’m spending an hour each week studying hockey tactics. I’ll analyze game footage, take notes on plays, and discuss strategy with my coach.

Example Assessor: School coach, hockey club staff, or league coordinator

Example Log: Watched last week’s game recording and tracked our breakout patterns. Noticed we lose the puck a lot in the neutral zone. I brought it up with coach and we’re adding a new drill. Analyzing power play setups next.

Example SMART Goal: I want to help younger players learn to love hockey like I do. I’m volunteering about 1.5 hours each week with a minor hockey team, helping run drills and encouraging the kids.

Example Assessor: Minor hockey coach or league volunteer coordinator

Example Log: Helped the little ones practice wrist shots today. Showed them how to follow through and aim for the corners. One kid scored their first goal using the technique! Setting up a passing drill next week.

Example Activity: Explore outdoor rinks in your community! Map out different rinks, compare their features, and learn about how communities maintain these spaces. Document the role hockey plays in bringing neighborhoods together.

Example Team Goal: Our team will visit at least 4 outdoor rinks, interview rink volunteers or users, photograph the facilities, and create a guide to local skating spots with ratings and tips.

Example Assessor/Supervisor: Gym teacher, coach, or Award Leader
