Example SMART Goal: I’ve always been into sneakers, so now I want to understand how they’re actually made. Over 13 weeks, I’ll spend an hour each week researching sneaker design and construction. My end goal? Build my own model shoe out of cardboard.

Example Assessor: Art teacher, design instructor, or retail professional with fashion interest

Example Log: Deep-dived into Air Jordan 1 construction today and learned about all the different layers and materials. Started cutting out a cardboard sole for my model. Working on the upper next week.

Example SMART Goal: What better way to appreciate sneakers than by actually testing them? Each week I’ll walk or jog for an hour in different pairs, tracking distance while noting how each shoe performs.

Example Assessor: Gym teacher, coach, or running club leader

Example Log: Tested the new running shoes on a 2 km jog. Noticed way better ankle support than my old pair. Improved my pace by 15 seconds per km! Comparing them on different terrain next week.

Example SMART Goal: Not everyone has good shoes. I’m going to collect gently used sneakers each week and donate them to youth in need. I’ll coordinate with a local organization and track pairs collected over 13 weeks.

Example Assessor: Charity coordinator, school counselor, or community center supervisor

Example Log: Collected 4 pairs from neighbors this week and cleaned them up. Dropped them at the community center for kids who need them. Putting up flyers to collect more donations next week.

(Completed as a team. Participants will work together to plan and complete their journey.)

Example Activity: Go on a sneaker culture expedition! Hit up local sneaker stores, vintage shops, and sporting goods retailers. Interview staff about sneaker history, design trends, and the collector community. Document rare finds and learn about authentication.

Example Team Goal: We’ll visit at least 4 sneaker spots, photograph interesting designs, chat with staff about sneaker culture, and create a guide to the best local sneaker shopping.

Example Assessor/Supervisor: Teacher, Award Leader, or retail professional
