Gaming & Real-World Adventure

Transform your favorite video games into real-world adventures. Design challenges inspired by games, build team activities, and explore your city while incorporating elements of strategy, creativity, and friendly competition.

After working diligently Tinklyn achieved goals but also went beyond the expected plan. As a young individual, Tinklyn actively volunteered and gave back to the community. Motivated to make an impact, she expanded her Art class and raised over $600 in three months. This fundraising experience was paramount for her because it taught her how to be more accountable for the local community. This experience has equipped Tinklyn with leadership skills and vision by inspiring people and working with team members.

(Completed as a team. Participants will work together to plan and complete their journey.)

Example Activity: Game-inspired outdoor adventure with team challenges, navigation puzzles, and friendly competition while exploring new areas.

Example Team Goal: Together we’ll complete at least 6 team challenges at different locations, rotate leadership roles throughout, document our adventure with photos and video, and debrief about what we learned about teamwork and strategy.

Example Assessor/Supervisor: Teacher, Award Leader, or recreation program coordinator

Example SMART Goal: I’m using Dance Dance Revolution and active games to build cardio fitness. My goal over 13 weeks is to complete difficult songs while maintaining a steady heart rate.

Example Assessor: Gym teacher, recreation center staff, or fitness instructor

Example Log: Hit 95% accuracy on a hard song today! My coordination is way better than when I started. Heart rate stayed in the target zone the whole time. Tackling expert mode songs next week.

Example SMART Goal: Over 13 weeks, I’m designing and creating a costume from my favorite game, learning sewing, crafting, and design techniques.

Example Assessor: Drama teacher, art teacher, or costume design instructor

Example Log: Drafted the pattern for my costume today and cut the main fabric pieces. Learning that measuring twice (or three times!) really does save material. Starting assembly next week.

Example SMART Goal: Gaming can raise money for good causes! My friends and I are streaming games on Twitch for 5 hours each week for 13 weeks, with all donations going to a local youth charity.

Example Assessor: Charity volunteer coordinator, student council advisor, or community organization staff

Example Log: Streamed for 3 hours today and raised $25 in donations! Got 12 new followers who said they’ll be back. Learning that engaging with viewers and explaining the cause really helps. Planning a special marathon stream for next month.
