Example SMART Goal: I want to make a visible difference in my community’s environment. For 13 weeks, I’m volunteering an hour each week with a local conservation group doing hands-on work like trail maintenance, invasive species removal, or shoreline cleanups.

Example Assessor: Conservation group coordinator or environmental organization supervisor

Example Log: Joined a shoreline cleanup today and collected 3 bags of garbage! Found lots of plastic bottles and fishing line. The coordinator explained how this stuff harms wildlife. Our group removed over 50 kg of waste total. Planting native species next week.

Example SMART Goal: I’m passionate about climate change and want to communicate better about it. For 13 weeks, I’ll spend an hour each week researching climate science, creating infographics, and developing presentations I can share with others.

Example Assessor: Science teacher, environmental studies teacher, or eco-club advisor

Example Log: Created my first infographic about carbon footprints today using Canva. Researched how much CO2 different activities produce – driving vs. biking vs. walking. Sharing it with our eco-club next meeting. Starting a series on renewable energy next.

Example SMART Goal: I love being outdoors, so I’m combining fitness with nature appreciation! For 13 weeks, I’ll hike for at least an hour each week, exploring different trails and documenting the plants and wildlife I see along the way.

Example Assessor: Outdoor education teacher, hiking club leader, or recreation center staff

Example Log: Hiked the ravine trail today. It was about 5 km with some good hills. Spotted a great blue heron and three different types of wildflowers! Taking photos for my nature journal. Trying a longer trail with more elevation next week.
