I first was aware of the Award when my sister, Raaniya, started as a participant. when I was of age, I thought that maybe I should give it a shot and put my time and effort into the Award and see how it goes. I am more than overjoyed to say that since then, never once did I look back on the journey and regret any step, I have taken nor any hour I have put into the bronze or silver levels.
I think one of the biggest impacts the Award has had on me was having a sense of discipline and commitment toward not only setting up goals but also achieving them within a set timeline. I have also learned and improved my time-management and organizational skills since I started participating. Scheduling in time for three different activities per week (physical recreation, volunteering service, and skills) did alter my schedule quite a bit, but that also taught me how to be flexible. And the Adventurous Journey was a whole different challenge because of multiple reasons, firstly, because of the weather, plus when you work in a group setting, you have to respect your group’s schedule for meetings and planning activities, so that got hard at times!
I’m glad I participated in the Award because I don’t think I would have learned many of the skills I now possess because of the award itself! Inspirational, Self-motivational, and focus oriented, I think for anyone who is planning on starting their journey, one thing I would say is to be consistent. Being regular and having a sense of uniformity while completing your hours is crucial because once you let go of that regularity, for some, it’s hard to get back on track! I am really proud of my dedication towards TaeKwonDo. I have been doing TaeKwonDo as my physical recreational activity for both the Bronze and Silver levels and have been committed! I am enjoying it so much, especially because I now found a new passion through the Award! TaekwonDo is not just about power, it also taught me many other things! You challenge yourself physically and mentally, learn self-defense, self-awareness, and other skills crucial in life.
You get the chance to get confidence in yourself, and learn to work in teams as well as individually! I am still on this long-lasting journey and will definitely be continuing this activity throughout the Gold level!,
