Rachelle Jones

My name is Rachelle Jones. I am 26 years old, a wife and mother, and a Bronze, Silver, and Gold Award Holder. I started my Award journey in grade nine after a representative came to our school and spoke about the program. As I listened, I realized that everything in this program were things that I was already doing in my life: being involved with sports, band, running, camping, etc.

Now for someone who always had the list in her head of what she needed to do; it was difficult some days to remember to record it in my record book that the Award had provided. After some time, it became a habit to come home after practice, do my homework or chores, have dinner, then record my progress.

For some, a program like this can be incredibly difficult and challenging, for others it can be a matter of simply writing it down and submitting it. However, it goes for you, whether it’s striving for all three or just doing one, simply do your best and be amazing while you’re at it! The Gold Award has had a transformative impact on my life, allowing me to truly discover my potential. Through this program, I have embarked on a journey of self-discovery, personal growth, and exploration.

Participating in the Award has pushed me outside of my comfort zone and encouraged me to embrace new challenges. Whether it was tackling demanding outdoor expeditions, engaging in community service projects, or developing new skills, each activity presented an opportunity for me to discover my capabilities. The program has taught me the value of perseverance and determination. I faced numerous obstacles along the way, but through resilience and a strong sense of purpose, I overcame them. This process helped me realize that I can achieve far more than I previously believed.

It has allowed me to uncover my passions and interests. The diverse range of activities offered, from spirituality to skateboarding has provided me with avenues for exploration. I have delved into these areas with enthusiasm, discovering talents and developing new skills that I never knew I had.

The Award has fostered my leadership abilities and honed my teamwork skills. Engaging in group expeditions and community projects has taught me the importance of effective communication, cooperation, and collaboration. These experiences have not only helped me discover my potential as a leader but also highlighted the power of working together toward a common goal.

Overall, the Award has been instrumental in my personal development. It has allowed me to push boundaries, uncover hidden talents, develop new skills, and cultivate a strong sense of self-belief. The program has provided a platform for me to explore and embrace my passions, fostering a deeper understanding of who I am and what I am capable of achieving.
